February 28, 2007 by Melissa · 2 Comments

And they are wonderful! I try to thank all my reviewers, but I want to be sure that everyone understands how important reviewers and their review sites are for authors. They get the word out about our books, help us promote in a way.
Now first up is RRTerotic:
A LITTLE HARMLESS SEX is a fun story readers should not miss as Melissa Schroeder shines in this blistering tale of romance blossoming between best friends. Once you pick up A LITTLE HARMLESS SEX to read, you will not want to put it down. Any reader looking for a story about friends finding a romance with each other, then pick up A LITTLE HARMLESS SEX. It’s a little harmless — yet enjoyable — reading, after all.

Ms. Schroeder has written a book that is impossible to put down. As the feelings between Max and Anna develop, you will be held in suspense to see if they realize how special their relationship is. The sex is intense, but the feelings go even deeper. Max’s determination to tame Anna and show her that she will not always be in control is thrown off balance with everything Anna does. They know everything about each other, but can they learn that sometimes a little harmless sex can turn into much more?

FALLEN ANGEL REVIEWS GAVE IT A RECOMMENDED READ!!!

A Little Harmless Sex by Melissa Schroeder is a thoroughly engaging read. On the one hand is the free-spirited Anna, who holds her insecurities inside, hiding them behind an overtly casual attitude towards sex, never allowing a man into her life for more than four weeks at a time. On the other is the outwardly straight-laced Max who is willing to break all the rules in order to claim the woman he loves. Max is domineering, yet sensitive, and Anna is both giving and yet occasionally aggressive. Their combination is absolutely combustible as shown by the explosive sex, which ensues once they both give into their innermost desires. Melissa Schroeder has done an excellent job creating characters with whom it’s easy to sympathize, and just as easy to pull for Max, in his victory of love over fear. Five Angels!

I’m BACK

If only for a few days. Last week, a book was due in and the file got corrupted. My fault for not backing up, idiot. So I stayed hidden and worked my tail end off to get it done. I am not done with it, and getting ready for my trip to Miami for the Fun in the Sun Conference! Kally and I are doing a workshop on humor and are participating in the book signing.
I am now working on finishing up the rewrite on A Little Harmless Pleasure and The Cursed Clan book. Not much else, as our life has just been amazingly crazy, and we heard there is a good chance we are moving, I will let you all know where and when if they actually follow through.
Off to read and watch the last Nora movie on Lifetime tonight. Les and I have had dates to watch them every Monday:)

February 6, 2007 by Melissa · 1 Comment
Well, it has been just bat shit crazy this week. With appointments for E. and A Little Harmless Sex rereleasing I was hit by Grace Under Pressure being available for Pre Order. I had not expected that at all! I am so excited that I apparently have sold a few of both, AND Tempting Fate from Phaze hit the top ten list!
All exciting!
Here is a little bit from ALHS!

Is it love, or just a little harmless sex?
Book one in the Harmless series
Max has always been Anna’s knight in shining armor. But Max has always seen her as a charming, and very sexy, little sister.
Until Max’s cold fiancé dumps him, Anna unloads another of her many conquests and she invites him over for margaritas and Mexican food. Too much tequila, too much flirting, and too many years of fighting the attraction-Max loses control and has mind-blowing sex with Anna on her couch. And in her shower. And in her bed.
When the sun rises the next morning, both of them must face that their night together is just the first of many. For Max, he knows he wants Anna forever, but convincing a commitment-phobe like Anna is no easy task. For Anna, she can’t believe she has finally slipped beneath Max’s steely self-control. He is every woman’s dark, wet fantasy come true. But what happens when the Max pushes Anna for more than just A Little Harmless Sex?
This book was previously published, but has been substantially revised and expanded for Samhain Publishing.
Warning, this title contains the following, explicit sex, graphic terms for body parts, torture via silk stockings, a little spanking, and shower and office sex.
RIP, Molly

Many people outside of Texas, and for those of you who don’t follow politics, may not know Molly Ivins. I pity you. Being a Texas writer, and a woman, she is one of my role models. We write so far apart on the spectrum, but she was always someone I would read and say, “I’d like to be her when I grow up.” Not because of her politics, although we are pretty close in that area, but her ability to turn something a little bit funny into a rip roaring, fall on the ground, gasping for air laugh. Her real voice mirrored her writing voice, and I would have paid millions to sit and hear her talk. She’s the woman who coined the phrase Shrub, but she didn’t hold her tongue against those in the Democratic Party either:
”If left to my own devices, I’d spend all my time pointing out that he’s weaker than bus-station chili,” on Bill Clinton, from the introduction to You Got to Dance With Them What Brung You
“I’m sorry to say (cancer) can kill you but it doesn’t make you a better person,” she told the San Antonio Express-News in September 2006, the same month cancer claimed her friend former Gov. Ann Richards.
“I dearly love the state of Texas, but I consider that a harmless perversion on my part, and discuss it only with consenting adults,” from a March 1992 column.
“If you think his daddy had trouble with ‘the vision thing,’ wait’ll you meet this one,” Ivins on George W. Bush in “The Progressive,” June 1999.(note from Mel, I believe she attended school with him)
As Paul Krugman pointed out today in the NY Times, Molly predicted a Civil War in Iraq and had this to say about her:
Molly never lost sight of two eternal truths: rulers lie, and the times when people are most afraid to challenge authority are also the times when it’s most important to do just that. And the fact that she remembered these truths explains something I haven’t seen pointed out in any of the tributes: her extraordinary prescience on the central political issue of our time.
This week, Molly passed away at the age of 62. She had been fighting breast cancer since 1999 and this time she did not win. We have lost a wonderful woman, full of laughter, with a touch of vinegar, and the bravery we have not found in our leaders.
Randi Rhodes says the article Who Needs Breasts is one of her favs and I have to agree. That one is completely nonpolitical but if you would like to read her thoughts in her last column(published Jan 12, 2007), check it out here. You know when it starts out with, “We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders and we need to raise hell. ” it is going to be good.
