Excerpt:
“It appears,” Del agreed, then looked Alejandro’s way. His buddy had the glint of the devil in his eyes. “That we need to draw this blackmailer out.”
“Have Kristoff come back and do it again and hope someone makes another recording?” She sounded confused.
“No,” Alejandro said, catching on to the idea. “Kristoff has been recorded. He has served his purpose. It is interesting that whomever recorded him chose to give the DVD not to him, but to you.”
“Exactly,” Del chimed in. “The blackmailer is trying to get to you. He or she wants you to suffer. Kristoff is just one avenue.”
“So what are you suggesting I do?”
One more time, Alejandro and Del exchanged a meaningful glance.
“I think, querida, he’s suggesting that I arrange a scene for you here and see if we can track him through another disc and ‘watch me’ note. Or better yet, catch him red-handed in the act of filming you.”
Shanna’s jaw dropped. “Are you insane! You think I should come here and get naked and…”
“Spend a little time showing our members what you enjoy,” Alejandro supplied.
“I can’t give this creep any more ammunition to ruin me.”
“He already has everything he needs to discredit you with the judges. But I do not think he’s actually trying to prevent you from competing, as much as he’s attacking you. This feels personal, not professional. If you want to find out who is behind this, you must…expose yourself.”
“I’m not into that!”
After last night, Alejandro knew better, but now wasn’t the time to remind her. “Perhaps not. Pretend, if you must. But I believe the plan will work.”
Shanna hesitated, as if she was pondering his words. “If I agree to this crazy scheme, can I do…whatever it is alone?”
Alejandro couldn’t resist the grin spreading across his face. “Yes. Plenty of our members would jump through rings of fire to see you touch yourself.”
“You mean, like, masturbate for an audience?” She turned ghostly white.
“Even the thought of it makes me hard,” he whispered for her ears alone.
“Absolutely not!”
“I will be more than happy to assist you,” Alejandro volunteered.
“Yeah, I’ll bet.”
“It would be more believable and more blackmail-worthy if Ali helped you,” Del chimed in. “I will hide in the room and watch all doors, windows, and passersby—see if I can identify our camera-wielding asshole.”
Her jaw dropped. “It’s bad enough to contemplate getting naked with the Latin Lover, here. But having you watch? Oh, no.”
That horror on her face was nothing but a lie. Her suddenly hard nipples told him that. She was scared—of herself, of him, of whatever was fueling her ambition. Suddenly, he wanted to get to the bottom of it all.

Snow in Northern VA
January 27, 2009 by Melissa · 4 Comments
It is beautiful. This brings back memories of my childhood in Germany. The kids are coming home early, a lot of them didn’t even go today. I have a feeling if we get ice tonight, they might be home tomorrow, or go late.
But, here are a couple of pics, one feature the SPAZ, Belle, who loves snow. I have no idea how she ever lived in South Texas. She loves cold weather and snow, hates the summers here, and Lord knows they aren’t as warm here as they are in Texas.
I will have more later….
OY…no sleep

First, please don’t forget about the WICKED WRITERS party this weekend. It is a weekend of pure wickedness, and there is much to be had!
Well, we went a few weeks without a family catastrophe, so of course, the little one has a stomach ailment. Not sure it is the flu, but at some point last night, we stood back waiting for her head to spin. I am hoping that none of us catch it, because, frankly, I don’t have the time to take off.
I haven’t been sleeping well. Much of it has to do with things in the future, determining what my next NY project will be, trying to get things done for epublishers, and well, just life. I am editing Turning Paige, getting ready to finish up A Little Harmless Obsession. I might even get that in next week, and then I really want to do another Sweet Shoppe book,a menage. But, all that depends on things that happen with other projects. I am a control freak by nature. So much of my life is controlled by other things, mainly the military. So, things like this I hate. This is something I should have some say so in, but at the moment, there are a lot of balls in the air. So, I wait.
I need to get some rest as my eyes are crossing from exhaustion.

Yes We Did

I can’t really say anything here that has not been said by much more eloquent writers than myself. Whether you agree with his politics or not, Obama being sworn in today was a major hurdle for our country. Less than 50 years ago, men and women were still being lynched, and now we have our first African American President. WOW.
I thought I would remind everyone of this speech and the video Will.i.am did for it.
“There has never been anything false about hope.”
AMEN, and welcome to a whole new world today.

Paperwork, promo work, etc
January 16, 2009 by Melissa · 12 Comments
Since I just turned in a proposal, and my folks are on their way, oh, and my critique partner has the audacity to think she can go on a family vacation, I decided to spend this week catching up on all kinds of things. I have been updating my website, etc. Plus, I am redoing my promo Cds. I am trying to decide where to send them. I have always thought it would be neat to have something like that as a reader, but I was not sure. So, you all tell me. Are these things you would want? They include:
- Excerpts from most if not all my books(trying to get the energy to PDF the other excerpts, lol)
- All my trailers
- Free Story
- Printable Booklist(with a column to check if you have read a book or not)
So, is that something you would want as a reader? The best thing is that I link to everything in the PDFs so for a reader it makes it really easy. I don’t mind spending the time or money to make them, I just want to be sure they work or that readers want to actually have them.
I am also working with Scott Carpenter on making up some brochures for RT. For once I am actually doing this with much time to spare. Usually I am waiting until March and FREAKING OUT. THat is why I am using this lull to get this done, then I tackle A Little Harmless Obsession.
Off to finish dinner and try to clean up. Folks decided to show up a day early so I am busy running around and cleaning, making the oldest help. And, the migraine is still visiting, the bastard.
Migraine Wednesday
January 14, 2009 by Melissa · 4 Comments
Well, I knew it would happen. I had to go out shopping and it was inevitable I would get a migraine. I could tell when I woke up this morning. But, then, I figured it would be best to haul my ass out the door today rather than tomorrow when it is freezing cold.
I did get a lot of things taken care of. Mail picked up at the PO, CDs and Labels bought for the new Promo CDs, food in the house, new printable booklist made up-I will be posting that in a sec. All I need is new book pages and I will be getting the CDs made up and send out. I even made dinner tonight, woo hoo. But, the migraine came and went. But, tomorrow I just have to drop the kiddo off at school, then I am in for the day, woo hoo.
Hope everyone had a better day than I did today.
