Turkey day and other things
November 25, 2009 by Melissa · 1 Comment
Over on the Wicked blog I talk about my thankful stuff, but I wanted to wish all those who celebrate Thanksgiving a happy Tday. It has been a crazy week at the Schroeder’s. We have been car shopping, and DSS was in her first play with LINES. She was super excited. I am looking foward to having some slow days ahead of us before the next round of holiday stuff starts. DSF is in two parades and has a concert before Christmas.
Friday, I am going to see my wonderful massage therapist Alex. For those of you who don’t know, I suffer from a massive muscle spasm thanks to a damaged disc that sits on it. I am trying to avoid surgery or living my life on drugs and Alex has been a godsend. I am all jazzed because I am doing a 2 hour session, one hour of massage, and an hour of Reiki. If you have never tried Reiki, I highly recommend it. I know a lot of people would doubt its ability to help, but it truly does. I have never felt so positive after a treatment. I felt all energized and ready to take on the world. So, from now on, I am getting at least one of those treatments a month and I am thinking of learning how to do it myself.
In writing news, I am tying up the loose strings of A Little Harmless Kalikimaka, the free short story for Samhain. I don’t have a release date on it yet, but it will be in December. I am also polishing up Conquering India for edits and finishing up the rewrite of Hands On Training. I have been finding myself yearning to dive into a historical. One of the first things on my agenda after the new year is to work on The Spy Who Loved Her. Very excited about that:) I am also going to finish up The Hammons’ Woman, and cross my fingers that the publisher will want it:)
Again, please have a safe and happy holiday weekend! I hope you and your friends and family find nothing but wonderful good times this weekend.
New Release from my friend Kris Cook

My friend Kris has his second release today, Three to Play. It is a great contemporary MMF with a radio program as the background that brings the three of them together. Take a peek:
THREE TO PLAY
Siren Menage Amour
[Menage Amour: Erotic Contemporary Ménage a Trois Romance, M/M/F, May-December, BDSM]
Just three weeks from her dreaded fortieth birthday, Beth Taylor’s radio show is turned upside-down. Corporate gurus force her to take on sexy duo Clint Moore and Dustin Lake for a new broadcasting morning team. Beth doesn’t have the patience to deal with the young bucks, in or out of the bedroom. But both Clint and Dustin are determined to share her, and nothing will get in their way.
When the three end up in bed, will old secrets force them apart or bring them together for a lifetime of passion?
Nano on Hold

Well, commitments have caught up with me and I have to attend to those first. I am going back over Conquering India one more time before it is edited, I need to finish up A Little Harmless Kalikimaka, and I need to tie up the revisions to Hands On Training. Oh, and at some point,I have to decide what to do for Thanksgiving. Les crushed my hopes of going to a resort and allowing other people to cook for me. butthead.
I think I will be able to do it all and catch up on Nano. There would be problems if I had not lost last week, but I just can’t write with a migraine. Even if I don’t make it to 50K for the month on one project, I have a good start to The Hammons’ Woman.
I am just about done working on the webpage. Updating the bookpages is boring and it takes FOREVER but I should get that all done by the end of the weekend if not sooner.
Off to get DSS ready for school, but I thought I would share some prettiness with you:
Conquering India…BIG NEWS
November 18, 2009 by Melissa · 9 Comments
I am so excited to announce that my menage, Conquering India will be released in digital early next year by Siren Publishing. It is my first full menage and I really enjoyed writing it. I am also super excited to be with Siren Publishing!
CONQUERING INDIA: Texas Temptations #1
PUBLISHER: Siren Publishing
LINE: Menage Amour
coming early 2010
Caterer India Singer is getting her life on track, hoping to make it big with her new company. She doesn’t need any distractions…especially a younger man. She won’t get involved with another man destined to leave her. But security expert Wade Thompson won’t take no for an answer.
Wade knows exactly what he wants and just how to get it. He’s pulling out the stops because he’s sure India’s the woman for him and his best friend and business partner, Marc Jasper. Marc isn’t too sure and tries to keep India at arm’s length. When a threat to India has her in constant contact with Marc, the lure of the curvy older woman is too much to ignore. But when both men raise the stakes and ask for more than just a fling, will India play it safe to protect her heart, or will she take another chance on love?

And so…

Well, I am off my Nano goal by a bit, thanks to a three day migraine. I can work through just about anything but that. So, I am back to writing later this morning, somewhat. I have some other issues going on, but I can work in bed, right? I made the mistake of taking too many nsaids and it upset my stomach, but as I said, I might have to be in bed, but I can write.
I have a goal of 3500 words a day, plus another 500 on the free Harmless Christmas story, A Little Harmless Kalikimaka. That will be done NLT Friday. So, I am going to keep plugging along.
As some of you know, I have news I am sitting on. It is driving me crazy, but I am hoping to be able to tell everyone about it this week. Have to wait for all the contracts and whatnot. There is a hint on the blog, but not sure if everyone will pick up on it.
If you noticed, I have changed up my links on the blog. If you have one, and would like to exchange links, please email me. Oh and because it is Monday and I had no sleep last night:
10 days of Nano-so far
November 10, 2009 by Melissa · 2 Comments
I am back, baby! I decided to do Nano (National Novel Writing Month) to help jump start my writing into the new year. The goal is to write 50K in one month. Is it ready to send off at the end of the month? No, but the idea is to get it down on the computer first, then go back and edit.
I used to write like this all the time before the Hospital Year of 2007, so it is wonderful to be back. I should easily finish the rough draft of this book within the next ten days, then I can focus back on Hands On Training. The exciting thing is that I can start work on the sequel to Lessons in Seduction–The Spy Who Loved Her–before Christmas and get the rough draft done sometime in late Feb.
It also helped last week because I was sick and now DSF is sick. It keeps me committed to getting words in for the day and I want to keep ahead of the word goal for the day.
It feels great to be back in the rhythm that feels right. Gets all the creative juices going. It is really fun to make friends with folks who are also doing Nano. While I used it to jump start work, I think I still might do it next year. Mainly because I love having write offs and sharing accomplishments and disappointments. Writing is such a solitary work and it is nice to find some people to share it with:)
I’ve posted a widget on the website that you can see on every page but my blog and my front page that will let you know how I am doing. I hope to make 25K NTL tomorrow and 30K by the weekend.
Hope all is well with you all!

Updates and whatnot

Hey, everyone! Well, I am in the middle of updating the site, just making the book pages easier to read and easier especially for digital readers. It will take me a few days just because I need to find all the links. That takes me forever. It isn’t hard, just time consuming to go to each of the sites and copy the links. The Harmless Books, The Hired Hand and Hands on Training are all finished so far:) Let me k now what you think.
And that will have to be done in between two other things. I have joined National Novel Writing Month. For those not familiar with it, writers take a pledge to finish a 50K novel in a month. I have decided to do this while rewriting Hands On Training. Yes, you read that right. I have decided to drive me and my family crazy, lol. But, I have a couple of ideas, and now one I think will be the one I do. It is completely uncontracted and I am aiming this one for digital publishers, so it will be erotic. If you are participating, I am under MelissaSchroeder and would love to buddy up with you.

First, yes, I must apologize to Leslie. Yes, you can label me a loser because I tagged her as Leslie Ann Davis, not Dennis. For that I truly apologize and plead sleeplessness.
ANN MARIE-You won the download from Leslie. Please email me at melschroATaolDotcom so I can forward your info to Leslie.
