Mel’s Thursday Thirteen

When I saw this on Lauren Dane’s blog, I decided to give it a try:
Thirteen places I would like to visit before I die.
1. Scotland- because of my love of historicals AND my cursed clan books. And, well, it’s Scotland.
2. Ireland-The land of magic, fae, and pubs.
3. Italy-Land of my ancestors, for one reason. Another for the beauty and the food.
4. Australia-Something I regretted when we lived in Hawaii is that we never had the chance to go to Australia. Still a bitch of trip, but a little less since we were out there in Pacific.
5. Washington DC-I am embarrassed to say I have never been to our nation’s capital. The history nerd in me just cries out to go.
6. Alaska- I still harbor ill feelings to a guy who got an Alaskan assignment over my husband especially since we went to Georgia that time.
7. England- the oldest and I want to go on one of those Harry Potter tours.
8. Russia- Another land of my ancestors and I would like to see St Petersburg.
 9. Bristish Columbia- Ever since I saw Cousins, I have wanted to go there.
10. France- Okay, techinically, I have been there. But I was eight and it was on a tour where all I remember is going to the Eiffel Tower. I would like to do that with my kids and tour the countryside.
  11. Egypt- Pyramids, nuff said
12. Seattle- We have almost moved to the area TWICE now, and it is kililng me. But I truly would like to visit WA state and esp Seattle.
13. Germany-Because I grew up there and have never been back.

  1. Those all sound like wonderful places to visit. We’re currently living in Germany and it’s we’re really enjoying it. We plan on visiting Egypt in the Fall - I must see the Pyramids and many of the old temples. I’ve been to France and British Columbia (and my husband was stationed in BC, but that was before we met) and we hope to visit England and Scotland this summer or next.

    Happy T13. :)

  2. Thanks, Caylynn. I hope to make it over to Scotland soon but working around my husband’s TDY schedule is mindboggling, especially now that he is going to be inspecting bases.
And you are doing it right! See everything you can while you can while you are there. My folks did that with us.

  3. Welcome to TT! :D

I want to go to Scottland too! (I also want to go to Italy, I went once, but it was a LONG time ago.)

I lived in DC for many years, and inspite of the busy atmosphere, horrible traffic (and creativly designed streets) and occational danger I love it!

I hope you get to visit all the awesome places your heart desires!

  4. Italy’s the land of my ancestor’s too. I’d love to go there someday. Actually my next Demon Hunter book is set there. I really should go and write off the trip *g*.

Been to Australia. Loved it. Want to go back.

So jealous you lived in Hawaii. Vacationed several times and just love it there.

  5. Great list! Did some traveling PK (pre-kids), but until they’re a little older I think we’re locked into Disneyland. Which I enjoy, but isn’t Scotland. :)

  6. Sounds like my list of places. Let’s go!!

    I’m up too. Come visit!

  7. Great list! And if you ever make it to Seattle, let me know so we can grab dinner!

  8. I really want to vacation in one of those huts that sits out in the ocean in like Bora Bora or somewhere! Great list, Melissa :)

  9. The list of places we want to go is very similar.

  10. I’ve been to a few places on your list :) I’d love to see the rest (then go back to the places I’ve been to again!)

  11. Where did you grow up in Germany? I grew up mostly over there as well. Loads of family still living outside of Stuttgart. As much as I’ve traveled I’ve only been to Washington DC and Germany on your list. Australia and Ireland top my wanna see.

  12. I live in Beautiful British Columbia on Vancouver Island - and guess what? It’s really close to Seattle. Pretty much the same lifestyle too.

Thanks for awakening the gypsy in me with all your talk of travel (smile).

Great idea for a TT list - mine are up too - all about the writing life.

  13. Thanks everyone for visiting! Rhian, I grew up in Weisbaden and Kaiserslautern. I would kill to go back there and live again.

  14. If i remember correctly, K-town isn’t far from my home town of Bonnigheim (i think the nearest nonvillage is Boddenhaim…maybe.) I haven’t been back since 1991. Sigh.
