So, I have a book semi-plotted for the first of a witch series. A whole family of them. But what I wanted to know is what kind of witches you like. Do you go for the light hearted Bewitched type, or do you like to have the witches fully immersed in the religion of Wiccan? Or does Harry Potter and the like float your boat?
Let me know which witch you like. And, authors, you are welcomed to answer too. Authors, editors, readers…name goes in the hat all the same.
Hmm, I think we will have to do some more prints for this one and I will run it until about five pm central. I am going to do an overnight contest tonight and that will make it easier. Oh and I need to write today.

Hmmm. I have to admit, I can’t think of a witch book I’ve read. But either sounds pretty interesting to me.
A lot of help I am, huh? LOL

Melissa, I haven’t read many witch books, just the ones by Christine Feehan. I really enjoyed them, but I have no others to compare them to. I suspect I would enjoy most of them and just haven’t stumbled any others yet.

I’m way easily spooked (yes, can’t safely watch X-Files, or even Buffy!), so definitely lighthearted. I have read Harry Potter, and those are pretty interesting reads, too, but that’s about as much as I can handle
And not the movie versions–that’s too much! But I know I’m at one extreme
And uh, my little guy was sitting on my lap when I clicked over and said, what’s that man doing? I said, “Um, maybe he’s getting ready to take a shower? Because he’s naked…” Oops

I haven’t read many witch books but I think I would like to read about witches like the characters in the movie Practical Magic. I loved that movie. lol Yummy pic!

I can’t think of a witch book that I’ve read. Sorry! But, I would rather go for a light-hearted witch than a fully-immersed one.

I love Bewitched, but I can go for either a light or dark read about witches.

I enjoy my magical world a little on the dark side, though not totally evil, at least not for the main characters. Some favorite authors: Kim Harrison, Charlaine Stackhouse, Karen Chance, Christine Feehan (the Drake sisters), and Vicki Pettersson.

You know, I don’t recall reading many “witch” books. For some reason, I can’t seem to get into Kim Harrison’s stuff. For everyone else, the witch character almost always seems to be secondary.
I think what I’d prefer is a more light hearted (but not frivolous) witch that has some seriously dark overtones. The contrast between what she normally is and what she’s capable of would be great. You know me, I hate cardboard characters. A really good kick-ass character - say someone like Mila or Anna - that just happened to have powers could be really spectacular.
I can’t say that I’d prefer a character deeply immersed in the Wiccan religion, but then again I don’t know much about it. Just superficial stuff.

I enjoy stories of witches of all kinds, but must say that I am particularly fascinated with the less lighthearted kind. Kim Harrison’s series comes to mind.

I go for the light-hearted Bewitch. I don’t like a something to scary since I tend to get scared easily.
I can’t remember reading any witch books. But I do like to watch Bewitch and now into Charmed.

I haven’t read that many witch books, but favor those that aren’t too dark. Nora Roberts had a three book witch series a while back (can’t recall the titles, sorry) that was especially good - a little edgy but not terrifying by any means.

I enjoy a light-hearted witch read occasionally, but I favor the darker more intense reads especially if they’re fighting demons or the unseelie court.anya bast, kim harrison christine feehan, cheyenne mcCray and lisa childs are some of my favorites.

I like some of all of these, but for a family, I think it would be interesting to see them all immersed in the Wiccan religion.

I like all kinds of witches, as long as they aren’t too “cartoony,” but I think I prefer the darker ones. I’m reading Witch Blood right now by Anya Bast. I like the Kim Harrison books, too. The Yasmine Galenorn series where one of the sisters is a witch is great. Bring on the witches!

I love witches. The powers that they can weild to change as they currently whim. I would be pleasantly tickled to read a fully immersed witch who used her abilities to toy with others and to toy with the emotions and intimate reactions of others. I can only imagine knowing and trying to fight against something that is causing pleasure beyond my control, due to someone elses witch craft fancy.
