Today is the first installment of FREAKY NEWS-which will include stories from all over the world.

First up today: Man Shoots Himself In Arm After Being Denied Sex

Authorities say a Fort Myers man shot himself in the arm after his girlfriend refused to have sex with him. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 29-year-old man and his girlfriend returned home from a bar early Wednesday morning.

Now, we have a woman who has spend way too much time with her hair:

Woman Makes Entire Wardrobe Out Of Hair

A Romanian woman has just completed creating an entire wardrobe out of her her own hair.

Ioana Cioanca, 64, started to collect her fallen hair since she was 17 when her grandmother told her that it was a sin to throw it out. She just completed making a raincoat for the winter season.  She says she intends to wear it over the brown blouse and skirt crocheted from the same material when she goes to church on Sunday.

Japan holds diaper fashion show

One after the other, the models strutted across the stage to bouncy ’80s dance tunes, all showing off designs of the same article of clothing — adult diapers.

Japan has one of the world’s most rapidly aging societies, and the fashion show Thursday proved the country’s diaper producers are intent on keeping the elderly clean and dry.

BE POWERFUL: REGISTER TO VOTE

October 2, 2008 by Melissa

I say this every time an election is coming up but I think this year it is TOO important to let it go by. THREE Supreme Court Justices will be picked by the next president. The economy, health care, schools, the war, and the need for alternative fuels…it is just important.

Oh, and if you are an American citizen who can vote, but don’t, you are not allowed to bitch on my blog about it, lol. IF you do, you have every right. But, take back the power, let DC know you DO count!

Oh, and there is some cussing so not exactly kiddo friendly. The censored one can be found HERE.

Shelley Bradley’s The Lady and The Dragon

October 2, 2008 by Melissa

The Lady and The Dragon cover

Note from Mel,

Shelley’s new release this week is a MUST HAVE for historical lovers. Make sure to pop over to her blog for the contest she is running through tomorrow!

I’m super excited to share the print release of THE LADY AND THE DRAGON with you because, as many of you know, this year I celebrated my 10th anniversary as a published author. I couldn’t think of a better way than to reissue my first published book ever. I updated it and added a little spice specifically for the Samhain release. This has always been one of my favorite stories.

A Runaway Heiress

Lady Christina Delafield was as bold as she was beautiful. When her overbearing grandfather threatened to tame her in a Swiss finishing school, Christina stowed away on the first ship leaving London harbor, determined to make her own way in life. But the mysterious captain of the Dragon’s Lair was a seductive reason to relinquish her independence–and embrace desire.

A Gentleman PirateDrexell Cain had lived for four years as the merciless Black Dragon, the scourge of the seas. Bent on rescuing his brother from the British Navy, Drex would do anything to return him to his wife and son in Louisiana–even kidnap the Lord Admiral’s granddaughter for ransom. A lovely blonde stowaway was an unexpected complication, until he discovered her real identity–and her passionate claim on his lonely heart.

You can see the book video and read an excerpt here.

5 of out 5! “I was absolutely entranced by The Lady and the Dragon! I loved this story and recommend it heartily. Pick up your copy today!” ~ Fallen Angels Reviews

Shelley Bradley weaves a suspenseful tale with a wonderfully complicated plot that kept me reading long after midnight. The characters were vividly real and their interaction with each other very entertaining. Rife with subplots and antagonists, this is a story that stays with the reader long after they have finished the book. Her story is passionately romantic and gripping. If you want to read a novel that picks you up and sweeps you away into another world as real as any, then THE LADY AND THE DRAGON is one not to be missed.” ~ Historical Romance Club

It’s currently available at MBAM, Amazon.com, B&N.com and Borders.com. They’re all either showing the old cover or no cover, but the book is the same.

Moderation of the blog

October 2, 2008 by Melissa

Just an FYI for people starting to use my new blog. I do not actually moderate the comments, that is done through a plugin to keep me from being constantly spammed. I know that sometimes it picks up comments that are NOT spam, but before I draw a name for any contest, I check to make sure nothing was moderated and no one was left out.

I did not moderate, ie throw people’s comments into the spam, it is done autmomatically. I’ve gotten a few nasty emails and it is seriously making me think that I might not do blog contests anymore. All I can say is the alternative is for me to open it up completely and allow people to spam at will. I just don’t want to do that, I am sorry.

Again, if you comment and you get a message saying you were moderated, rest assured I go through the comments before pulling any winners. So you are not missing out on the contest. Your name, if you comment on the right day and before the end of the contest, will go in the pot.

Thank you for understanding.

What’s Cooking Wednesday-Chicken Enchiladas

October 1, 2008 by Melissa

So, you have 85 Gazillion calories to spend, and have no idea what do so with them? lol, no this is a great recipe, but I don’t make it that often because it so fattening. Mr. Mel asks for it every now and then, though.

I have done this with shrimp substituted for the chicken.

Chicken Enchiladas
Serves 8

3 cups cooked chicken meat, shredded or chopped into bite size pieces
1 large onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 tbs olive oil(you can subsitute spray or butter)
2 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 pint whipping cream
1 can chopped green chiles
chopped or sliced black olives(optional)
salt and pepper to taste
8 flour tortillas
2 cups grated cheddar jack cheese

Preheat oven 350.

Heat oil in nonstick skillet over med heat. Add onion, saute about 2-5 min, add garlic; saute another min. Drain green chilis and add to onions and garlic. Lower heat, then cut up cream cheese and add to skillet, constantly stirring to keep it from burning. Once melted, add chicken and mix well. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Take the mixture and place by spoonfuls into tortillas. Place rolled tortilla, seam side down, in a 13×9 pan. Once all tortillas are filled and placed in pan. Then, sprinkle cheese of them. Over that, pour the whipping cream and then sprinkle the olives.

Place in preheated oven and cook 20-30 minutes until cream thickens and cheese is melted.

If you have a recipe you would like to offer up, shoot me an email on my contact page.
